Terms of Service

Effective date: March 1, 2026 · Last updated: March 13, 2026

Welcome to Lyzard. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Lyzard web application, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Lyzard (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

  • “Workspace” means a shared environment created by an organization to manage application review cycles.
  • “Deck” means a collection of applicant responses within a Workspace, linked to a single Google Form.
  • “Reviewer” means any user granted access to evaluate applicants within a Deck.
  • “Admin” means the user who creates a Workspace and has elevated permissions, including linking forms, managing members, and exporting data.
  • “Applicant Data” means the information submitted via Google Forms and synced into the Service, including names, emails, essay responses, file uploads, and any other form field data.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent. By using the Service on behalf of a club, organization, or institution, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

3. Account Registration

The Service requires authentication via Google OAuth. By signing in, you authorize us to access your Google profile information (name, email, and profile photo) to create and maintain your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at getlyzard@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Permitted Use

Lyzard is designed to help student clubs, organizations, and similar groups review applications submitted through Google Forms. You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with applicable laws. You shall not:

  • Use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful, discriminatory, or in violation of any applicable institutional policies.
  • Attempt to access Applicant Data from Workspaces or Decks to which you have not been granted access.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the Service, except through our documented APIs.
  • Sell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service without prior written consent.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.

5. Google Forms Integration

The Service integrates with Google Forms via the Google Forms API. When an Admin links a Google Form, Lyzard requests read-only access to form structure and responses using OAuth 2.0 scopes (specifically forms.responses.readonly, forms.body.readonly, and drive.metadata.readonly). We do not modify, delete, or write to your Google Forms or Google Drive at any time. You may revoke Lyzard’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google account permissions.

6. User Content & Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all Applicant Data and reviewer notes created within the Service. By using Lyzard, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to collect, store, and process the Applicant Data you import into Lyzard. If your institution is subject to FERPA, GDPR, or other data protection regulations, you are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with those requirements.

7. Team Members & Permissions

Admins may invite Reviewers and Viewers to their Workspace. Admins are responsible for managing access and ensuring that only authorized individuals can view Applicant Data. Lyzard provides role-based access controls (Admin, Reviewer, Viewer) but does not independently verify the identity or authorization of invited members.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, swipe-based review interface, and documentation, is the property of Lyzard and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Lyzard name, logo, or trademarks without our prior written consent.

9. Availability & Modifications

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lyzard and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of applicants, or errors in review decisions. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that is harmful to other users or the Service. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your Workspace data within thirty (30) days of account deletion, unless retention is required by law.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least fourteen (14) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
